Travel

Getting Around Little Rock

Little Rock is a small city and everything is close by, whether you prefer to stay downtown, midtown, or west of the city center.

Uber and Lyft are readily available, and the free trolley runs daily from downtown Little Rock and stops just steps from our wedding venue across the river in the Argenta Arts district of North Little Rock.

Flying In?

We recommend flying into Clinton National Airport (LIT).

Streetcar Line

The fare-free METRO Streetcar operates throughout the Little Rock and North Little Rock downtown areas seven days a week. The streetcar is a fun and inexpensive way to take in the downtown sights of central Arkansas’ “twin cities,” and get to downtown destinations and events without parking hassles.

Why we chose this nonprofit: For many LGBTQ+ individuals, especially those who have experienced rejection from their families, the lack of parental support can be deeply painful. Free Mom Hugs provides a reminder to us and others that love and acceptance need not be conditional.

The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ+ youth.

They offer 24/7 crisis intervention services through phone, text, and online chat, as well as resources for parents and educators to create safe and inclusive environments. They also conduct research and advocate for policies that support LGBTQ+ youth.

Why we chose this nonprofit: Nearly 40% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered suicide in the past year. Additionally, more than one in ten (12%) LGBTQ young people attempted suicide in the past year. The work The Trevor Project does is even more important now that the Trump administration has cut funding to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline for LGBTQ youth.

Lucie's Place is a nonprofit organization in Central Arkansas that provides support and resources for LGBTQ+ young adults experiencing homelessness. Lucie's Place is the only shelter of this kind in Arkansas.

LGBT young adults under the age of 26 are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than the general population. 40% of homeless young adults identify as LGBT. 1 in 5 transgender people in the United States have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives, and it is not uncommon for transgender and gender nonconforming people to experience discrimination and harassment when trying to seek shelter and housing assistance.

Why we chose this nonprofit: Lucie's Place focuses on a particularly vulnerable population: LGBTQ+ young adults who face high rates of homelessness due to factors like family rejection based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
